* You can’t impose candidates – Nsima to Akpabio
* You aren’t ready to govern A’Ibom – Akpabio to Nsima
Indeed all is not well between Akwa Ibom state All Progressives Congress, APC, flag bearer, Mr. Nsima Ekere, and his former boss and benefactor, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio.
Intelligence gathered from Abuja is that the two are locked in battle of words over last week’s bungled party primaries in the state.
Theater of war is Abuja, where the party leadership went to participate in the APC national convention.
According to our source, a top brass in the state APC hierachy, while Nsima accusAkpabio of destroying relationships he (Nsima) built by attempting to impose his (Akpabio) boys on constituents, the garrulous senator fired back that Nsima isn’t ready to govern the state.
“As I’m talking to you, Akpabio has gone as far as telling the party national leader, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinub that following the shambolic primaries in th state he doesn’t think Nsima’s APC can beat PDP.
” He even suggested that Tinubu should pave a way for Governor Udom Emmanuel to defect to the party”.
Our source further revealed that the lion of boudilon rejected the suggestion, asking him to work with other party stalwarts to achieve the party objective.
“I’m at a loss what Akpabio’s real plans are as we return. I’ve read online how placed a congratulatory call to Atiku Abubakar immediately he was announced the winner of the PDP presidential primary”, he mused.
It is on record that the senator has not found APC an easy resting place since his so called uncommon defection. He has been edgy right from when he crossed over and all his efforts to assert himself in the party has been met with suspicion and stiff opposition.
Pundits believe that the primaries offered him the last opportunity to establish his system men in the party as he would only feel comfortable if he is able to secure tangible positions for them in the party.
